THREE MONTHS OLD

With Christmas behind us, and the New Year ahead, there was much to look forward to this week as we celebrated Kaitlyn turning three months old. Here she is enjoying a sit in her Bumbo chair.

As you work through the early days of a new baby, when things are particularly tough, people insist that it all gets easier once your baby hits the three month milestone. So as you can imagine, this has been a long awaited event.

I think someone forgot to tell Kaitlyn about this important fact…

Now, she is not in any way a difficult baby, however for some reason, completely unbeknownst to me, the little one has been quite a ball of trouble this week, with bouts of unexplained crying. When I say crying, what I really mean is, screaming to the high heavens, at one point during which I can hear a faint “Maaamaaa”. (Or perhaps that is just a side effect of all the loud noise). Hopefully it is just a growth spurt and it will soon pass (leading to more of this).

And this...

We did try to appease her with a dummy, but she would have none of it. Someone else was a little more impressed…

Surprisingly I managed to maintain a sense of not losing my mind completely, and have some exciting news to share. Today, as I was preparing my blog, Kaitlyn did her first half roll-over. (Please bear with me as this couldn’t possibly be as exciting for anyone else but me and her Dad). Here I was sitting downloading photos and ignoring my beautiful baby who was chatting to herself on her mat, when the next thing I look over and see this…

I’m not sure whether to be concerned that she rolled herself over to the television to get a closer look, rather, I was busy deciding she was an absolute genius, taking after her Mum and calling Ash and my Mum in the process.

I would have to attribute this new skill to her exceptional strength, in particular her little legs. She now prefers to be held up while she stands – (wobbly, but she’s standing) and is able to kick herself about 90 degrees around her mat. Not only this, but she is also getting very good at grabbing things in front of her, once again, I caught the action on camera.

As we prepare for her christening, Kaitlyn is as beautiful as ever, yet over time she seems to have lost a good deal of her hair, leaving behind what her Dad has affectionately labelled, “the mullet.” Thankfully there is a gorgeous matching bonnet for her outfit, otherwise I would be considering hair transplant surgery!

Otherwise, we are almost ready, and looking forward to a fabulous day.

She is more beautiful than last week. Her hair will grow back! It was great to see her role over, I feel as if I am there with you. Dee, Brian, Tony and Avril were at mine the other day and I put Kaitlyn's blog up, Brian was nearly crying, but he always was a bit of div!! Love you Carol xxx
