IT HASN'T BEEN PRETTY...

I know, I know it’s been a while since my last post.

Going straight into excuse mode for a moment, the last fortnight has been less than wonderful with a serious case of clingy, super-attached baby and regular bouts of unexplained crying. It has taken me this long to take a photo in which she doesn’t look like this…

(This pout has a certain familiar look to it, I believe).

Teething seems to be the only reasonable explanation, but of course, there are no teeth to be seen – not even a trace of white gums. Blaming teething on bad behaviour is possibly more frustrating that the behaviour itself sometimes! Of course, once Dad get’s home she is all smiles – determined to make a liar out of me!

In an effort to distract me (and sometimes Kaitlyn) from the crying, we have been getting out and about as much as possible. Our regular catch ups with Mother’s group have been a much needed source of relief – here’s Kaitlyn with her little friend Milly.

Catching up with Gen and Sophie in a belated celebration for Sophie’s first birthday.

Sophie seemed to enjoy the little maracas Kaitlyn picked out for her, however it didn’t take long for our little devil to set her eyes on them, and want them for herself… Watch out Sophie!

We also had coffee with Elysia and baby Olivia, who is now coming up to the six month mark – she has grown up into such a lovely little baby and was just like a little doll sitting in her pram watching with horror the many, many tantrums Kaitlyn decided to throw that day.

Gymbaroo is starting to come to the end of term, and although we are having a blast..

We are not any closer to crawling! I keep thinking to myself that she will be delighted with herself once she acquires the skill – at least she will be able to follow me when I leave the room, instead of howling like, well I don’t know of anything that makes a sound as loud as what she let’s out! This is the closest she has come so far, leaning onto her side and getting into position – but it simply resulted in face plant, followed by, wait for it.... More crying.

Over the last fortnight Kaitlyn has grown into some big baby toys and outings - a babycino with the grandparents…

Drinking from a cup, despite most of it ending up down her front!

Sitting forward in her car seat – captured here taking a nap while behind the wheel, very irresponsible.

And most importantly, helping me in the kitchen – here is the little set I bought the other day – hoping she will be able to whip up some spaghetti bolognaise for herself in no time.

And, she has also expanded her vocabulary to include "dada" and "nanna" - although I would like to know the reason why, when she is upset and needing picking up, she calls "mama"? Finally, just had to end with some fashion shots – first one is Kaitlyn’s impersonation of a boy baby – well that’s what Ash called her all day, I think she makes a great looking tom-boy!

And my favourite – her little fairy outfit, loving the fairy wings and little tutu...

Now Carol, I have included a video for you too – just to make up for the fact I haven’t blogged for a fortnight. It’s not particularly exciting, but you have to laugh at her sucking on the face washer in bath – anyone would think she’s never fed.

Next week, I hope to have some footage of Kaitlyn in the pool – Nan and Grandad have been taking her every Wednesday, and she just LOVES it!
